Media Specialist (Volunteer Role)

We are seeking a passionate and skilled volunteer to manage our organisation’s media presence. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of social media platforms, content creation, and digital marketing. This role is crucial in promoting our mission and increasing our online visibility.

What will you be doing?

  • Social Media Management:
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy.
    • Create engaging content (text, images, and videos) for various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
    • Monitor and respond to comments and messages on social media channels.
    • Analyse social media analytics to measure campaign performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Content Creation:
    • Write press releases, blog posts, and other written content.
    • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy and clarity.
    • Collaborate with other team members to develop engaging content.
  • Digital Marketing:
    • Implement digital marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and drive website traffic.
    • Utilise email marketing to communicate with our audience.
    • Track and analyse website traffic and other relevant metrics.
  • Media Relations:
    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets.
    • Pitch story ideas to journalists and respond to media inquiries.
    • Monitor media coverage and analyse media sentiment.
  • Event Promotion:
    • Promote upcoming events through social media and other digital channels.
    • Create promotional materials (e.g., flyers, posters, invitations).
    • Manage event photography and videography.

 

What will you need for the role?

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital marketing trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Passion for our organisation’s mission.

 

How much time is required of you?

5-10 hours per week depending on your availability
